| Description | The Command and Control Center of the USS Amaterasu, featuring the latest in Starfleet technology, knobs and leavers largely replaced by touch panels and digital displays. Despite this the layout of the bridge still harkens back to an older era. The bridge like the Amaterasu herself is a metaphor for the changing of the times. In the middle of the bridge sits the Captain's chair, controls on each armrest allow the Captain access to most functions aboard. In addition the Captain can take direct control of internal/external communications, shields, and even weapons. In front of the Captain is an auxiliary control console for helm and navigations. As this technology is meant to be used in the event of an emergency, it is often used as a small table by Excelsior Class skippers. Directly forward on the bridge in front of the large View Screen are the Operations (Port) and Flight Control (Starboard) stations. Staffed at all times these officers are supported by those stations aft of them during Starship Operations. |
